तुम बात तिरंगे की करते हो,

हमें तो बस एक रंग समझ आता है,

तुम पूछते हो आखिर क्या है खास इस देश में,

हमें तो बस अपना वतन ही समझ आता है।

सच मुच ही पागल थे वो जो मर गए, टंग गए,

पर प्यार ही क्या जो जिंदा छोड़ दे,

इतने लोग आए और गए,

मजाल है क्या किसी भारतवासी का गौरव तोड़ दे।

खून बहाना तो बहुत छोटी बात है,

हम तो जान बस यूंही न्यौछावर कर दे,

तुम एक बार मांग कर देखो

तो सही हम पूरी दुनिया

को एक टावर पर लाकर खड़ा कर दे।

डंडा लेकर चलना भी आता है

और बंदूक चलाना भी जानते हैं,

किसको क्या समझ आता है

हम सब कुछ पहचानते हैं।

तुम ख्याति पूछते हो,

हमनें तो ग्रन्थ लिखी है।

पर शायद घबराना हमें आता नहीं

या मिट्टी में कुछ है यहां की,

जो तुम बोलो उसमें आगे,

ऐसी कहानी है यहां की।

तुम बात तिरंगे की करते हो,

हमें तो बस एक रंग समझ आता है,

तुम पूछते हो आखिर

क्या है खास इस देश में,

हमें तो बस अपना वतन ही समझ आता है।

ENGLISH VERSION

You talk of the tricolour…

You talk of the tricolour,

To us, it’s just one color we see.

You ask what’s so special about this land,

To us, it’s simply our homeland, you see.

Those who died, who hung from gallows—they were truly mad,

But what is love if it leaves you alive?

So many came and went,

No one dares shatter an Indian’s pride.

Shedding blood is a small affair,

We’d lay down our lives just like that.

You ask once, go on, demand it right,

We’ll stand the whole world atop a tower, intact.

We know how to march with a stick in hand,

And how to fire a gun, we know full well.

What does anyone understand of us?

We recognize it all, every spell.

You ask of our fame,

We’ve penned scriptures grand.

But perhaps we don’t know how to fear,

Or maybe it’s something in this soil here,

Whatever you say, we charge ahead,

That’s the story of this land, my dear.

You talk of the tricolour,

To us, it’s just one colour we see.
